2nd International Conference on High Manganese Steel 2014, 31 August to 4 September 2014 in Aachen, Germany, http://www.hmns2014.de
Location : Aachen, Germany
The HMnS 2014 is the second international conference covering all aspects of High Mn Steels. High Mn Steels exhibit complex mechanisms leading to an unusual combination of extraordinary mechanical properties. To address the ongoing scientific and industrial developments in the design and processing of manganese-rich high-strength steels, the range of steel grades from austenitic high-manganese steels to medium manganese-steels with ferritic/austenitic microstructures (Mn approximately 3 to 30 wt.%) will be covered within the scope of the conference. The HMnS 2014 will bring together international scientists and engineers to discuss on understanding the underlying physical phenomena and solving the relevant technical challenges.
Participants from both scientific institutions and from industry are welcome. In total 8 oral sessions are planned on topics like: Applications, Alloy Design, Modeling and Simulation of Plasticity and Thermodynamics, Processing, Fundamentals of Twinning, Advanced Characterization Methods as well as Failure, Damage and Hydrogen impact. The poster session is open to all research aspects related to High Mn steels offering a nice discussion atmosphere.
On June 5-6, 2014, the BaseForm project held a kick-off meeting hosted by M2i in Delft, the Netherlands. 10 project members from 6 participating companies attended the meeting. Aim of the kick-off meeting was to clearly mark the start of the project; introduce all persons involved in the project and define their roles; make decisions related to the project management and material selection. During the kick-off meeting, the partners discussed the main pillars of the project, the timetable of actions and obligations for the proper and timely implementation of the project, the management structure, the work packages and the respective tasks.
The first progress meeting is scheduled on February 5-6, 2015 and will be hosted by TU Delft.
